What really goes on behind the scenes at Point Park University’s Pittsburgh Playhouse?

Check out A Day at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, a must-see video by a team of Point Park technical theater/design students. The group worked with Master Electrician Scott Weston and Assistant Master Electrician Jeff Sherman to create the production for the “Show Us Your ETC” university contest sponsored by Electronic Theater Controls, an international lighting design and manufacturing company. The video provides a never-before-seen look at the lighting and electrics crew’s work at the Playhouse.

Students Colleen Ryan, Lauren Brunson, Mike Papinchak, Kyle Simok and Matt Shearer produced the video. If they win the competition, Point Park gets a new lighting console for the performing arts center.

Facebook users can vote for A Day at the Pittsburgh Playhouse by clicking on the "Like" button below the Point Park video at "Show Us Your ETC." Voting closes March 23.

Semi-finalist videos will be shown and final three winners announced at the 2012 U.S. Institute for Theatre Technology tradeshow in late March. For contest information, visit the “Show us your ETC” website.

For the answer to why the video credits note, “No Source Fours were harmed in the making of this video,” and “Matt only has a slight twitch,” watch A Day at the Pittsburgh Playhouse.
