Gabe Bubon is in his 13th season on the Point Park University men's basketball coaching staff and the first as interim head coach of the Pioneers. In addition to his men's basketball coaching duties, Bubon is also the head coach of the Pioneers' men's and women's golf teams. 

Bubon played basketball at Point Park in 1999-2000. That year he led the American Mideast Conference in scoring at 21.0 points per game, a figure that ranked 10th in NAIA Division I. He shares the Point Park single-game scoring record with 45 points at Shawnee St. on Feb. 11, 2000. Bubon made 11 treys in that game, which is a school record for most 3-pointers in a single game.

In 2002-03, he averaged 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game at Brewton-Parker College, an NAIA Division I member in Mt. Vernon, Ga. That season he was named the Southern State Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year. His collegiate playing career also includes a stop at Lakeland Community College.

Before starting his coaching career, Bubon pursued pro playing opportunities in Europe and the USBL
Bubon got his start in coaching as a men's basketball student assistant at Point Park from 2003-05 before becoming an assistant coach in 2005-06. He has been the top assistant the last eight years.
